Memories by the Stream

The soft ripple of the water as we disrupt

the steady flow of the stream with the splashes

of our bare feet.

Laughter ripples between us when we both step

on the sharp

edge of a rock

that's covered in moss.

As we sit down by the edge of the stream, the burning

sun ravages

our exposed shoulders.

We watch the clear water babble along and look at the darkness

of the brown mud that is exposed

through the waters trasparency.

Your hazel eyes are no longer transparent, no longer clouded

by the deamons

that haunt

their beauty.

The beauty that is apparent as the rays of the golden sun

reflect off of the clear

water and get captured in your eyes, dancing

with the light green

and bringing a warmth

to the otherwise distant colors.

The warmth spreads to your mouth and a smile

lights up your face, having the same effect your laughter

did just moments before.
