Memories of War

Oh, how all my friends have left me

Each taken by another man’s hand

All alone, I let their ashes go by the sea

The war was tiresome and dreadful as it should be

We walked and marched all along the blood stained land

Oh, how all my friends have left me

Each died with valued honor everyone would agree

But their deaths were all unplanned

All alone, I let their ashes go by the sea

The helicopters came to get them by the hopea trees

I stood still and watched my friends go, as was the command

Oh, how all my friends have left me

The tears came flooding, till I couldn’t see

I took my shoes off and walked in the fresh sand

All alone, I let their ashes go by the sea

How my heart aches for all the death I’ve seen

The blood that was shed, I saw firsthand

Oh, how all my friends have left me

All alone, I let their ashes go by the sea
