Memories in the Water
When the cool wind touches my face,
Feel the sand so warm, yet so cold,
When I look at the waves that we used to chase,
And wonder how the horizon never gets old.
When its dark grey waves with crashing foam,
Hitting the rocks that stand so strong,
Why can’t I stand so tall alone?
Why do I fall when things go wrong?
The seas is my home, the sand my friend,
And when I close my eyes I go back again,
To the times in the arms of my father,
To the memories in the water.
So free I could fly, as the sun goes down,
I feel almost as if I’d see you around,
To you from the arms of my father,
With the memories in the water.
We realize that we can’t go back,
Or take everything we’ve always lacked,
As the past grows slowly farther,
Leaving memories in the water.
We walk on the shore, hand in hand,
In the shadow of who I think I am,
Without you, life would grow harder,
Leaving me with memories in the water.
