A Memory
Lying in your arms
under thick covers
The heat of your body against mine
Banishes my feverish chills
My voice ripped from my throat
nose stuffy and raw
energy drained
I'm grateful for you, my guardian angel
You check my temperature
fetch me my meds
tend to my needs
while I rest in bed
I tell you I'm fine
and I can tend to myself
but you will not hear of it
While I'm weak and unwell
So grateful am I, for you are mine
loving of me, no matter my health
for me it matters not that you have no wealth
for as the vows go, I to cherish you in sickness and in health
