memory

Please let me reside in your memory

I’ll be the simmering silence, the gagged and bound

Let me just sit here

Be your stone statue, drowned in cobwebs

The one that will never budge,

Stagnant, paralyzed

Just never forget me standing here

Just look for me in the sun

Scamper through your lives, the ones we counted together,

Your rash dreams, your lazy hair,

Tossed into the breeze,

Take a break to buy a sandwich, and recall me,

Don’t you close your eyes without hearing

The whisper of my face, the one that chills you to stop

Yours drives me to bafflement

And I, I aspire to lurk in the captivity of your brain,

Your breath, the fibers of your lungs

I’ll trod under your feet,

In the shadow of your shoeprints

I’ll rust and wither here,

Waiting for you to remember
