Memory

This memory inside my desperate heart

Leaps upon my mind like a tyrant king,

Keeping me inside, not doing my part.

Oh, oh I wish to fly away on wings

Above the caressing clouds on high.

To stay away from those low down.

Away from prejudice and sorrows. Nigh

But to preserve the heart and spirit renown

Of this man who tries for his honor, bound

By the hard, cruel chains of people’s stares.

Set to crush all hopes and be drowned

By their own hate without other cares.

My heart knows where my loyalties lie--

              Will malicious memories never die?
