The Memory of A Lifetime

If I were given one moment,

A slice of my past.

If I could hold it close,

And always make it last.

One moment.

One chance.

With the grace of a ballerina,

yet the power of a linebacker,

I would fly through the air with grace and power.

Swing.

Release.

Flip.

Catch.

I would release again, again and again.

Then I would twist-

once, then twice,

one moment,

one chance.

Once more releasing,

Pulling into a double back,

I would look for the ground and go for the stick.

My moment.

My chance.

I saluted the judges

and knew that I had done it.

My one dream now complete-

my moment.

When they called my name,

smiling brightly,

I walked to the podium,

and claimed my dream.
