Mended
It feels like it'll get worse before it ever gets better,
Please remember that no thunderstorm lasts forever.
Because eventually the clouds will run out of rain,
Even if it feels like the past may never run out of pain.
Yesterday is a time of learning and tomorrow is a second chance,
Today is when you decide whether to fall or whether to stand.
Her tears stream down her face,
And her father's been drinking again.
He screams at her through the bedroom door,
Will this ever end?
Like mom left and dad seemed to go insane,
He used the bottle to drown his pain.
Maybe she should just run away,
Because this house is broken.
Family is a bond,
That her father has shattered,
That's the only thing that ever mattered.
And now,
She doesn't know what to do,
So she just cries.
This family may never the sane again,
But they can be mended.
It feels like living is a special kind of war,
Weapons in your hands like what are you fighting for?
Trust me when I say that there will always be hope you you,
There is always sunlight even after what you've been through.
I know it feels so hard to see the rainbow behind the storm clouds,
Please believe that your default direction isn't down.
Her father keeps on trying to get clean,
Yet he always hits relapse.
Sometimes you can't escape the pain,
Because you can't change the past.
And he knows that the bruises,
On his little girl are unjustifiable,
Because all he ever wanted to do was raise her right.
But instead has scarred her for life.
She's getting married next week,
But where's his invite?
Will he ever find the light?
Maybe he was never meant to be a father,
Maybe he's broken,
Maybe he can be mended.
It feels like addiction is unbreakable,
Yet maybe if your faith became unshakable.
Because depression's worst enemy is hope,
So please hold on even if you're at the end if your rope,
Even when the rain washes over everything,
Remember that you are still worth something.
So their family was broken,
And their love was lost.
He became monster,
And now look at how much it cost.
She came to see him before he goes,
Said she wants him to know,
That it's not too late to be mended.
So two kids met their grandfather for the first time,
In a hospital bed,
He told he loved them,
And kisses their foreheads.
The family was mended once again,
And he knew the storm was over.
Sometimes before it gets better the darkness gets bigger,
But you don't have to become the darkness.
So he kisses his baby girl,
Not knowing his much time he has left,
Until this cancer takes his hand,
And brings him to greet death.
It may feel dark now but things always have a bright side,
Even if it feels like you're slowly running out of time.
Because it is never too late to say sorry for what you've done,
You don't have to be the monster you've slowly become.
I just want you to see that there is hope even when it feels like the world is ending,
It will never be too late to become mended.
