Mental Olympics

We watch as our country fights,

We watch as our athletes compete,

We watch as medals are awarded,

Will you be gold or bronze?

We glorify these athletes,

As if they are skilled or strong,

As if they were given by god,

But what about the real fighters?

We watch as they wrestle with depression,

We watch as they try to take their life,

We watch as they fall,

We watch as they stretch their souls,

And the only medal they get,

Is a pill to silence their fight.
