MENTIS

a cloud of smoke,

into the lungs and

soon the bloodstream.

the smoke surrounds and

encloses upon the mind.

A mind. A workshop.

Palace, Sanctuary!

why do they pollute you?

Substance only infects and effects --

it hurts you, Carpenter of thought.

you carve the ideas of

everyday life. I need

you to breathe, I

need you to need.

without you I am

but a hollow cast of something

that could have been.

A zombie. A leech.

You open me to others and

you open me to feeling.

without you I could not know

and without you I could not cry.

this is why, dear mind,

I need you.
