a mentor within the sky

the cold drab air repulses my youthful skin

relieving me of this evil sin

for i was not accepted upon ground level

i look to the sky for solitary comfort

awakened by the bright stars

strategically placed in the infinite darkness

that we call the sky

 they welcomed me

as if almost immediately

but which star should i claim as mine?

number 3,982- kurt cobain

or number 5,862- maya angeleou

mentor of the dead you may ask

 why yes

for the dead understand what the living cannot comprehend

and the dead truly know the importance of life

so i choose every star

each and every star strategically placed in the infinite darkness

that we call the sky

whose magnificant breeze will guide me to a better place

a place with no boundaries

a place with infinite possibilities.

this poem was my attempt to show how i have been rejected by the modern era, and how i turned to a mentor who had passed away. my love of music and books is what had helped me get through life so far. people who have already lived their lives and leave something important behind for the world to hear or see are the people i consider to be the best mentors; the people i look up to.
