Mercie

Her prints in the sand would follow directly behind mine

For though we are stranded she’s with my every stride.

The flick of her tail as smooth as the waves moving all day

And even through the night she brings about a sense of light.

Though the birds were once alone, no longer are they that,

For her bark echoes and they flee with a flash.

Though we may be stranded no fear do I have,

For a canine will do until we are home at last
