Mercy for Mementos

Why endanger what I love?

Why torture what I love?

If you love something, set it free.

If you love something, let it be.

Do not drag Blanky through the mud,

Do not stain Blanky with your blood.

Better Jenny cry than Jenny starve.

Better I start anew,

Among sand, among coconuts, surrounded by salt,

Far from my books, far from my dog, alone,

Than suffer nostalgia.

Keep my books, keep my dog, keep my friends,

Keep it all safe,

Far from me.
