Mercy Speaks
I have no desire for your mercy
For it turns to dust on my tongue
Making me ravenously thirsty
My throat is parched
The well is dry
I will no longer
Cry my cry
For you have turned a blind eye
What a shock, I must not cry
And end this worthless game of mine
I want to live in freedom
I want to love with a willing heart
But from the start your intention was to thwart
This I will never understand
As my life falls through the glass like sand
And you will not bother to extend your hand
And leave my soul in the frying pan
You leave me out to dry
And I will cease to wonder why
Why your cruelty has destroyed my mind
All alone with nothing left
And understanding gone
Yet you had promised joy and wealth
We shall see if the promise keeps
And if I will store increasing heaps
The wisdom that I seek
This, your word, lives forever
And makes my heart become so tender
I am astonished in such bad weather
You have made my soul, as a feather
Yet keep it steady and tightly tethered
I give you thanks despite my qualms
And pray to you with earnest alms
I long to be held in your arms
My Father wont you cleanse my wrongs
And keep me from the murderous throngs
