Merle's Poem

The month I met you, in the time we spent - I never thought we would become best friends, but we did. And now I’m sad, things have changed I feel as if I lost my best friend, which I did. I had no idea I’d open my heart so wide and let love in, just take it in stride, but I did. Two people: worlds apart brought together by a love for God’s heart. Life changed for both of us that fateful day; the day you came, when you could’ve stayed. And when we laughed together, when we cried, when we shared life and our hurts deep inside, we formed a bond that was stronger than time. A bond that, when broken, left us dead inside. When I waved goodbye that very last time that day you boarded that plane to fly across that ocean, across the world, I knew then that you’d leave a hole in my heart and you did. I will never forget the difference you made. In my life in those few short months, everything changed. And now I’m counting down the days until I see your face, and see that through all of life’s changes, friendship can remain.
