Mermaids

Looking in, looking out. Looking up, looking down. Water flowing; sunlight streaming; starlight glowing; children dreaming. Beneath the waves of moonlit diamonds, in still waters of sleepless sirens; watching, waiting, for some poor sailor to whisper down and meet his maker. They swim in silence, they sing in chords; the glorious violence of gentle discord. Beauty beseeches what death cannot hide; the eternal life leeches a dead man's pride. Written in blood and sealed with a kiss, the everlasting soul dissipates to mist.
