message in a bottle

i woke up abruptly, too many thoughts running through my head, it felt as if i was lost at sea, and not lying in my bed. the lights on my wall were doing a slow dance, and i was uncontrollably slipping into a trance. yes i was on my own boat, floating out to sea, life as i knew it was slipping away from me. the boat that i knew as my life had sunk, i was alone on a brand new boat, discontent and drunk. i heard a rumbling and felt something under my feet, it was the bottle i drowned my sorrows in each time it and my lips would meet. i would drink until i couldn't feel my emotions, the contents of this bottle felt like a healing potion. by the time i was finished i felt just as empty as the bottle, and my life went careening once more into full throttle. suddenly i decided to write a message for someone to find, just in case it was the only piece of me i could leave behind. i wrote a long message, from deep inside my soul, then i rolled it up, as tightly as it would roll. and i slipped it in the bottle, the paper fit just right, i put the cork inside and pushed it in so tight. i stared at the bottle intently, gazed at it so long, i wanted to send it off but something felt so wrong. my mind was going crazy, completely full of doubt, so i popped off the cork and pulled the message out. i put my lips to the bottle and let out a fierce long scream, i put the cork on once more and slowly i felt myself awakening from this dream. a few days later some old fisherman found a bottle out at sea, it caught my attention but in my head i thought "it just couldn't be" the man said he found a message that contained not a paper, not a word, but when he took the cork off the bottle, a scream was all he heard. "whoever created this message was obviously filled with grief," as the fisherman spoke, my mouth was open in disbelief. for it had not been a dream, but an actuality, inside this discovered bottle was a hidden piece of me. i guess it wasn't actually something i left behind, but a part of me i left for the rest of the world to find
