Message in a Bottle
I hope you’re reading this
With your toes in the sand
Melt into the ocean
With skin sun-kissed and tanned
I hope you’re reading this
With joyous sun filled eyes
Every grain of sand is
Reason to be alive
I hope you’re reading this
As the sun slips way down
The water sighs with nightfall
A day you did not drown
Dear Love,
I hope you're standing with your toes rooted in white sand and you’re looking out over the ocean that you can't see the end of. This world is so vast and there is even more beyond that. Seven billion lives are being lived all at once and you are one of them. You are here, living and breathing, so embrace it. Fall into the waters that call softly at your feet and sink into depths of this life to accept that you are a part of it. You are vital. If you weren’t here you wouldn't be reading this and perhaps these words would have never found a beautiful mind to fall into.
I hope your eyes are filled with soft light. That the sun is warming your skin even if the brisk wind nips at your extremities. The sun will keep rising, so no matter the breezes that blow your way you can keep chasing the light down the horizon and find a warmth worth enduring the cold for. I hope you see everything around you as a reason to keep coming back. That every grain of sand, every wave that hits the shore, and every little creature below and above the ocean's surface are reason to keep living in this beautiful world.
I hope you're standing on the shore watching the sun slip down blow the horizon like a colorful silk dress falling off the hips of the night sky. See the sunset dissipate into the darkness, but realise how the stars that twinkle into sight are just as stunning as the melted colors that were present moments before. Understand that life is this way too. Even if some beauty or goodness disappears, there is always more to be found in the cracks and corners of the world or hidden in the darkness we are enduring. Listen as the water sighs in front of you. Even the ocean if breathing relief of making through another day. Breathe in and out with the waves and become one with your surroundings. Hold the air in your lungs and thank the stars it’s not water.
You’re here, you’re alive, you're human.
