A message to the president

Another school shooting

Has been reported in the news

So, now I am concluding

There will others, just like Cruz

I do not doubt

This will happen again and again

Because when you take God out

You let the devil in

When I was a child

The whole class would pray

And Things were not so wild

Because of how we started our day

No child was on Ritalin

And there was no one with A.D.D

And there was no single citizen

With a peanut allergy

But our food was prepared at school

And we stood silently before taking our seat

Because our school had a rule

That we pray before we eat

I hope your attention is stirring

We must get rid of the curse

This madness will keep occurring

Until we put God first

Darlena ThePoet

Greetings: I am a nurse and a mother of five with four grandchildren. I have been writing poetry for several years. I am not a professional, but I believe that that is because my work has just never made it into the right hands. However, I guarantee that anyone who read my poetry will enjoy my work. I am currently working on my second book of spiritual poetry, which has not yet been published. My first book of spiritual poetry has been published, as well as a children's book, 'No Bubble Bath for Desmond.' I am very excited to reach out to the world even further with my writing.
