Metabolism

My basal metabolic rate

urges somewhere just above

the life sustaining crest

c o m a t o s e d

yet still alive

a peaceful state of rest

body enlightened

free to fly

h i b e r n a t i n g

to awake refreshed

when the snow of winter

fountains blossoms

with the birth of spring.
