The Metamorphosis
This poem was written at the end of the year 2013, during which i was in class XI...around New Year's Eve...So here it goes:
Since the very beginning of this year,
I felt like everything was changing gears,
Things that I loved, people who were dear,
started separating right from here.
Maybe I didn’t realize it then,
And maybe I don’t, even now-
Things that seemed too easy earlier,
Started complicating themselves somehow.
As my session commenced with section-A,
And I started leaving memories of class 10th behind,
I changed my stream to medical-
I don’t know what came to my mind!
Class XI, they say,
Is no child’s play,
It was true- I figured out then,
Bunking every class, punishments and just pass-
It was the same student who scored a CGPA-10.
Life continued in a similar fashion each day,
And I didn’t even bother to ponder why,
My studies failed, and so seemed about my future plans
Was what I doing- even right?
I don’t clearly remember what happened next,
I’m currently suffering from a thought-block,
But going by what people said,
I think I started talking to girls a lot.
Maybe that was true, maybe that was not,
But there were evidences- to substantiate those claims;
When I went through my biology textbook,
All I saw was girls’ names.
The one’s whom I talked to,
And the ones I preferred not,
Even some boys had their names inscribed,
No one was absent from the lot!
And it was girls only, who did all this,
I don’t know what pleasure they derived,
Raghavi, soumya, meghaa, avval,
And many more names to write.
Then there were experiences: both good and bad.
During which I didn’t, or did i?, crib,
All that could be said was I grew stronger from them,
And noteworthy was that I learned to forgive.
And now as I lay awake in bed, thinking,
I pray for a positive inception
I wish for the good and have hopes,
that there will be hell of a resurrection!
With this I end my poem, dear friends,
Party hard and drink lots of beer,
Prepare yourself for a better tomorrow,
Wishing you all: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.!
