Metaphor

Why must every metaphor be taken literally?

For a dog that lays in the sun has no feline whiskers

and a wilted rose still receives its beauteous name.

Why can we not laugh together?

For the song that spills from my lips

is not at all vain.

Let the metal vanish

from the armor of your pain.

A knight is not needed to save the day.
