Metaphor Of A Metaphor
Life is a trip.
Not a road trip, nor a business trip, or a vacation of some sort.
But rather another variation of a trip.
It’s plunging down the rabbit hole, adventuring, delving deeper and deeper into the unknown, perhaps into the center of one’s mind.
It is thinking of ten impossible things before breakfast and wearing a codfish on one’s head.
It’s eating small cakes and potions, making one grow at an alarming rate, soaring to new heights, head among the clouds, but maturing prematurely.
It is also shrinking to a hateful, more cynical version of oneself, perhaps coming back down to reality, and realizing that one cannot decide their entire fate.
It's finding an unexpected door, and opening a whole new world of opportunities.
It's seeing life in extravagant colors and shapes, and viewing things from a new perspective.
Life is taking cryptic advice from a big blue caterpillar that sits upon a mushroom throne,
and finding the answer to questions that are more simple then the seem at first glance.
However, it is not knowing why a raven is like a writing desk.
It's being satisfied knowing that nothing is what is, becuase it would be what it isn’t.
It's coming across flowers who judge someone for who they are and are not.
Life is meeting strange characters, and thriving in the diversity.
It’s talking to the cheshire cat, but knowing when to ignore him, and the grin he leaves behind even when he himself is no longer present.
Life is knowing that the Mad Hatter is completely right when he says that we’re all mad here, and embracing this as a fact of life.
It's painting the roses red rather then ripping them up and replanting naturally red roses.
Life is playing croquet with real animals, and using your resources accordingly.
Life is then growing alarmingly large once again, but recognizing that standing out fits oneself quite well.
It's defeating one’s personal Red Queen and her army.
Then, only to “wake up” decades later and come to the realization that they have blindly watched their life widdle away, and realize what a long strange trip it’s been.
