The Metaphor Poem

Happiness

A well-worn wasteland

Hiding my true feelings behind a smile

But my eyes refuse to lie showing the true me

A version I don’t want anyone to ever see

Perfectly masked and secure from the outside world

I am a burning kiss, the pain of deception lying on their lips

Like a vampire the marks I give my victims last forever

But I just pray it ends with me

A ray of sunshine and happiness to the world

But its complete darkness and gloom behind closed doors

I slowly wish one day I will completely turn into the version of myself I pretend to be

Hope and pray that this mask will get stuck and there will be no escape

The version of myself I want to be, the change I hope I’ll make one day
