Meticulous Me

Don't call me conventional, that's only the thing that I was,

because,

as it does,

my fuss

desquamates the rust.

The rules keep me original, the boundaries grant agency

to a meticulous,

scrupulous,

(seemingly) ridiculous

me.

I've always had to take things slower than everybody else.

"Isn't he hindering his potential?..."  No way in H-E-double L's.

I take no short-cuts through my standards, values, and plethora of trusts

which help me focus on my goals, and bridle all my lusts.

"Well, wrong and right is individual in today's society"

Since when did ethics become a vote of popularity?

Morality hasn't changed, and chivalry isn't dead,

leaving behind the boy the world wants me to be, has left a man in its stead.
