#MeToo

Love

Love used to be cruel.

It meant

Manipulation,

Abuse,

Deception.

It meant loneliness.

Isolation was Lucifer’s cage

and I slammed the door on myself.

Love was Pandora’s Box

And I lost myself in the idea of it.

I trusted it to lead me and

walked straight into its preying arms.

Love raped me.

and left me

with only

a fragment

of what I used to be.

Love was not kind.

Love was cruel.

Now?

Love is kind.

Love always makes sure I’m okay

And ends our nights with

“Goodnight, I love you.”

Love is

Supportive,

     Understanding,

Passionate.

Caring.

I envy its fearlessness

As it

jumps

without hesitation

Into the unknown with me.

Love does not know about my past,

But accepts my scars regardless.

Love stays with me,

Even when I expect it to leave.

Love is slowly smoothing over

The places that were left empty

By what love used to be.

Love is teaching me

A new definition -

A new way to live,

A new way to love.

I am forever grateful for love.
