Mi Amor

You’ve captivated me, my soul, my being by who you are.

I hope you know now that you’ve hooked me forever,

So don’t dare try to unhook that rope.

Cuz baby what is life without you by my side,

What is love without your last name added to mines.

People call me crazy, others are awed by the foreign romance,

That novel-like story that you see on t.v. but never thought existed in real life.

It was fate that brought us together....I can’t help but think...

What if I had’t have gone out that night?

What if I never drank too much..and had to rush to that restroom?

What if I never came down those stairs and ran into you?

My friends thought you were random, how you seemed to pop out of nowhere

And ask me for those digits...and yea it may have been your eyes,

That smile,

That intoxicating buzz in my head telling me that I shouldn’t leave alone,

But whatever it was, it led us together and we ran with it.

Only a foreign, an international love could start out such as this

Because if we were in America, you would have definitely caught a fist.

But you didn’t, in fact you got just the opposite,

You got a friendly exchange, followed by a follow up, which turned into a date,

Which turned into a chapter of our lives that neither of us intended to write.

But it’s written

and what started as a fling, turned into a thing,

And now we’re both in deeper that we could have ever imagine.

Now let me get things straight...these are the thoughts, the words coming from a girl,

That never ever considered waking up to the same person everyday,

But here you are, by divine intervention, placed in my world

To give me hope that love, this love can exist.

I went from denouncing men...to loving you with no end

And baby quite frankly it threw me off,

But I’m back up now and dusted myself off now and ready to love you like no other.

I went from being disgusted with love, and mushy gushy

To being head over heels for you.

And when I say head over heels...I mean head over heels as in I would gladly have your kids, gladly cook your dinner, gladly stroke your worried face, gladly wake up to you everyday, gladly say “I do”.

You...you don’t know what you’ve done to me, what can of worms you opened,

And quite frankly you don’t care because at the end of the day,

You’re in the same boat with me.

So baby as we sail off into this beautiful sunset or should I say sunrise of life,

Know that no matter how far apart, I will gladly, most happily be your wife!
