Michelin Man
So, right now,
I'm trying so hard
Not to love you
Not to fall for you
Not to want something more
There was something about your eyes
The way there always is
Perhaps, you thought so too
Because you opened up to me
Shared everything you knew
Eh, you probably think nothing of it
But to me, it meants the world
to see you so vulnerable
So emotional
It made me want to curl, curl
Curl up into a ball
With you at the center
Living, protecting, caressing
Till you felt my sympathy unrelenting
So occasionally, I dream about you
And for a moment I was able to forget
Losing myself in others
Because I didn't want you to be my first time
And yet
Perhaps, I should have waited
Should have been patient like everyone said
But, I've never been one to pause
No matter how thin the ice I tread
God, I miss you and all the inside jokes
But, you'll be leaving soon
In pursuit of better things
I only wish we had more time
Or met at a different point
Because if we couldn't have been perfect
We would have been just fine
Living, loving, and laughing with each other in mind
As much as I like you
I wish you nothing but happiness
Even if not with me
I wish you love
If that will end your loneliness
I just wish you could have known how I felt
Maybe things would have been different
Maybe we could have gotten our shot
But, I'll be satisfied with what we got
I write this now so it won't hurt so much
When you tell me that you're going
That you're ready
That I'll be staying behind
So, I'm leaving my feelings here
Preemptively,
Because I recognize the signs
But, I'll always think of you fondly
And don't worry
One day you wont fear the cold
One day you'll understand
It's not always about feeling warm
It's about being warm
