In the Middle

To be in the middle of this,

Should I be a friend

Or should I be more?

Being your friend is wonderful,

But being your lover is a beautiful blessing.

I'm scared, I'm confused, I'm torn;

It's so difficult to show you both

Without full commitment to the other.

Do I help you because you're my friend

Or because of the deeper care I have for you?

Should I take your kindness as just that

Or because you feel this connection as well?

Why must I choose between the two?

I'd be your lover and friend,

But at the moment I can only be one

And I cannot choose between the two.
