In The Middle

I always wanted to be Summer

Bright

Fun

Loved

Hot!

Summer isn’t

shy,

quiet,

timid,

or anxious

Summer is a heroine

who dives into her story

with a volume of verbs

When I realized I wasn’t Summer

I took a liking to Winter

Cool

Collected

Assertive

and sometimes Dramatic!

Winter isn’t

weak,

or graceless

Winter is a queen

who builds her story

with an abundance of adjectives

I wish these were my stories,

but I am not extreme

neither hot

nor cold

I am perfectly ordinary

and always in the middle

I am

indecisive

and hesitant

Lively

yet dull

Bright

yet cloudy

Cool

yet warm

I am Spring

and I create my story

with oodles of

words,

sights,

and sounds
