In The Middle Of The Night

I lie awake; I try to sleep,

In the middle of the night.

I think about the secrets I keep,

In the middle of the night.

I talk to myself; I talk to my cat,

In the middle of the night.

I cry about the one’s I’ve lost, the ones I’ve loved, the ones I want,

In the middle of the night.

And when I finally get to sleep,

I dream about very different dreams.

I dream about my fantasies, my lovers and my fears.

I dream about my lovers, my wants, my needs, my cares.

Soon the night isn’t middle anymore,

And the sun soon begins to shine.

I wake up too early, stretch and sigh, think about the things I’ve tried

In the middle of the night.
