Midnight

Midnight. Darkness. Blackie.
I've been labeled this by my own people. Taunted for the hue of my skin. Never been golden like the pretty little bright skin girls. Never had the hair that flowed like silk like the white women on the magazines, Or the green emerald eyes. I'm the one with the dark brown skin that coats my body like milk chocolate. The one with the thick hair like the wool of a sheep, just as full and abundant. I was made with curves and thighs thick like molasses. Full lips and large brown eyes. I will not be labeled by my equals as less than or not equal to like a wrong equation. I am beautiful for exactly what I am and what I'm not. I am proud of every blessing and flaw. I'm the pretty girl with the midnight skin that shines like the midnight sky.
