Midnight Oil

I’m burning the midnight oil.

The lamp is lit.

It’s cold and my chair is hard.

My glasses have slid down my nose

and I strain in the halflight

to read my own writing.

I haven’t done well at my work

but it is nearly finished.

I’m burning the midnight oil.
