In the midst of the dagger

Burke

Oh I dream of a dagger to lead me,

I follow it through the dark of the night.

I must do this deed where no one can see,

And I need to make sure that it’s done right.

This weapon will start my new royal life,

And give me the happiness I deserve.

Maybe I’ll earn true respect from my wife,

No longer is Duncan the one I serve.

Although my heart is saying to do so,

I know my actions may come back to me.

It’s beauty is dangerous to my soul,

This dagger will become my enemy.

I am the rightful person to the throne,

I believe it’s better to stand alone.
