In the Midst of Love
We left it somewhere
Hanging in the star filled night, lying between the separation of our lips
filling each space between each break when we kiss
Riding our twisted tongues
It wrestled with us as we made the sheets dance
meeting us at breakfast swirling in our coffee extra cream
more sugar..Please
Morning Kisses delight, Cheeks resembling those of the sky, right before sundown
It was the power of thee who slowly led my head to your chest
putting all my problems, contemplations, & unanswered questions at rest.
It was the force of thee who sent your fingers nascar racing through my hair, then up my skirt and around my shirt only to simply hold me. Console me. Because it is he who knows me.
Our hearts went hand & hand, spotlight shining as we watched the two slow dance.
And we’ll converse about the worst, exposing our wounds unafraid to describe where it hurts.
But we left it somewhere
Between all the hello’s and goodbyes
And..maybe we just forgot
or did it never cross our mind?
But we left it somewhere!!
Or did we leave sitting next to fear?
Carrying a bright red sign reading “DARE NOT COME NEAR”
I.LOVE. YOU
I love you
I love you
There.
I found it..
