milk and honey

stop me from leaving

the casdcades of your love

why does your beauty push me away

with waters fallen from high up

the undercurrents remind me of pain

i thought i was freed of

drown me instead in milk and honey

let me taste the sweetness of pain

i'm trapped in the richness of a copper penny

rusted away and lying in the river bed

a treasure for the young

tucked into a pocket at the call to be fed

a forgotten reminder of words misread
