Milking A Dead Cow
Nobody is interested in fresh ideas anymore, they just want remakes and reboots
There will be yet another old movie or television show that is coming back soon
Just because a play, a poem or a movie script is brand new
Does not mean that this new material isn't really good too
It really doesn't matter if you have something unique or interesting to say
The establishement really wants to hear it repeated the same way
You see it in the movies and you see it on the television shows
A movie or television show comes back that was popular so many years ago
You also see it on those singing competion shows
Singers trying to make a name for themselves singing a song another artist wrote
The performance may be very well done, it may even be special
But it far from groundbreaking and it's not even close to being original
Maybe it's come time for me to finally put down this pen
It seems that the only creative writers getting any work today are the ones who are dead
The dead writers have the fast track and they get their work shown for free
While in order for me to submit my work, I must pay a submission fee
The dead writers work gets put on the stage under the bright lights
While I continually get weighed down with strict submission guidelines
In the theatre today for all of the new work, there just doesn't seem to be enough room
The theatre today would rather produce plays adapted from old movies and cartoons
The writers who have been dead for hundreds of years are the ones who are thriving
While my artisitic dreams are on life support and are inevitably dying
The entertainment industry is not really interested in the here and now
They are just contempt with Milking A Dead Cow
