Milky Way

This universe has existed,

Created all that's good and strange,

But isn't funny when you realize-

The amount of matter never changed.

The life that you are living now,

All that you've ever known,

Has actually existed

14 billion years ago

Every cell within your body,

All the salt inside your tears,

May have once been a shooting star,

Just changed a little over the years.

Since you cannot create matter,

What once was, is what is now

And any number of things created you,

Even though you cannot see how.

Your body at one point in time

Was part of something more,

And every blade of grass you’ve stood on,

Has seen it all before.

So before you can convince yourself,

That your life has minimal worth,

Know that the universe makes no mistake,

Of putting people on this earth

It kneeded you from the finest dough,

Handcrafted you your own heart,

This world must have taken its time on you,

It has been waiting for you from the start

This world makes you feel so tiny,

Out of 8 billion, you are the only one

But you are the brightest star in the galaxy

Too busy comparing itself to the sun

You will do amazing things,

And we long for the day that you can,

Because the cosmos knew that you were coming

Since the moment the universe began.
