Millennial War Call

Gather ‘round, children, as another high school grad calls

to tell you a supposed story about the journey we are to embark on this Fall.

The grunts and the groans, laced with grief and despair,

will only get louder as the years pass and they will become part of the air.

Caffeine will be abundant but so will the

work.

Our morale to move forward will inevitably jerk

and spiral into a bottomless pit,

along with the deadlines that we will be trying desperately not to miss.

The game will change and it will be nothing like high school.

No more worrying about hall passes or eating and getting in trouble!

Like Ariel said, “It’s a whole new world,”

and it’s all for us, but our feet are yet not soaked…

But fear not and fret not,

all will be right.

For at the end of the four years, we will be ready to fly!

Although we will have finished one race,

we will be starting another.

Education is power.

And that is what will keep us fired!

No college loan, or deadline can ever stop us from succeeding

the goals and conquests we be feelin’.

It’s 2015, and we are keeping it “trill.”

Just because we are millennials does not mean that we are going to fail.
