Millions

I am going to cosmetology school

Go to a normal college

 They said

You are making your bed

And you are going to lay in it

Be an engineer

Be a nurse

There’s nothing much worse

Than going to cosmetology school

Do you know how much a hairstylist makes

Much less than a lawyer’s pay

My father inquires

Deep in his eyes I can see sparks of  sad fire

Sparks of tire

I always told him I was going to go to law school

That I was going to make millions one day

But this is what I want to do

I promise I’ve thought it all through

I’m even looking at ways to help pay for it, too

You only live once

That’s the motto

So I tell them both YOLO

And no, though

I don’t want to be an engineer or a nurse

There’s nothing much worse

Then being in a career that you don’t love

Just because

It brings money

Fame

Power

I want passion

I want to wake up everyday

Excited for college

Ready to learn

Eager to work

Not cooped up somewhere I hate

Just to be making

Millions

I used to write when I was younger. I'm picking it back up again.
