Milly Brown's Lunch

bread moist from having

just thawed on the little chair.

jam warm from being in the

pantry for a couple of months

sticky on the doorknob.

peanut butter gooey and thick

all over the table.

milk spilled haphazardly across the floor.

lunch time at Milly Brown's today.

lunch time and no food on her plate.
