Mind-Reader

I wish that I could read the minds of

Those people I see every day. I wish

I could know what goes through their

Heads when they see me walking their

Way. The conversations unheard and

Sliding of eyes, unknown to those they’re

About; are they looking at me? Did I do

Something wrong? Is this all that high

School’s about?  If I could read minds

I would just know if friends were genuine

Or if they were false. I’d look past the

Laughter, the teasing, the hugs and see if

They’re worthy of a good friend’s love.

Granted, I’ve been hurt many a-time

And this wish would likely come also

A curse, but things could be worse.

I love words... I actually started out writing lyrics for songs and then I realized how much more I can express myself through poetry. One of my teachers pushed me to join the writing club at school and the book that the club published had so many amazing writers that I decided that I wanted to be a part of that community. When I write my poetry about a topic that means something to me it makes me feel freer, like a weight lifts off my shoulders every time and I LOVE IT!
