A mind of wishes
Oh how I wish,
all books were easy to understand,
then maybe id hold the upper hand
in taking matters into my own hands,
I’d be the smartest kid in town
then no one could ever look down a brown
and these are not racist facts
but it’s the basic acts of the society around,
Oh how I wish,
life could be as simple as making grammatical mistakes
in a place where lakes
are actually blue
instead of green, because life could then mean
anything is possible but that would be obscene
not obscured but clear
sort of like smelling fresh air where an ocean is near
Oh how I wish,
these wishes could really come true
but sadly life isn’t like opening your eyes and finding the last clue
the obstacles we face are what throw us in the race
to be who we are born to be
it may be hard to see
but at least there will always be one thing to relate to
and that is poetry.
