Mine, All Mine

The night keeps a quiet ledger, counting every soul that looks up and every wish that never finds a voice. I ask the moon no favours. It has watched too many goodbyes to promise anyone forever. Still, I wonder, if the heart leaves no footprints, if the hands return empty to the earth, what becomes of all the devotion we carried so carefully? Perhaps it lines the sky. Perhaps it settles into silver along the edges of evening clouds, or lingers in the pale glow that slips through an open window when someone cannot sleep. If I am only passing through, let the benignity I have given outline my name. Let it find the ones I cherished on nights when the world feels immeasurable, resting softly on their right shoulders. Let her ask for nothing. Everything I gathered will belong to time. Everything I built will belong to silence. But the love I offered of invisible constellations stitched between heartbeats may keep travelling long after I am gone. Because my love is mine, all mine. My love, my, my, mine. Nothing in the world belongs to me, but my love, mine all mine. Nothing in the world is mine for free, but my love, you're mine, all mine, all mine.
