Mini-annoyances

As I march through my day

I am always aware

Of the number of people

Who just stop and stare.

“Have you no manners?”

Wells up in my brain

The ignorance of people

Just drives me insane!

But then I realize

Exactly how much

I feel that they – or I

Are just out of touch.

People who sit in their cars

Reading their phone

“Hello?” says I

Why don’t you go home?

I need this parking space

Can’t you see there’s no other?

But, no, folks are oblivious

We’re all going to smother.

Cars that go

This way and that

What’s the rush, sir?

Let’s have a chat.

Why can’t you relax?

What’s going on in your head?

Keep up this pace

And we’ll all be dead.

Life won’t get easy

While you’re focused on you

The rest of us are here

With lots of living to do!

Get your head out of the clouds

And off the damn screen

How will you figure out

That you’re quite Byzantine?

When your world is so small

And no one else can fit

It’s way past time

To let go of this shit.
