Minimum Wage
I made a fortune today
at the diner.
Bill gave me ten hours
and let me keep my tips.
He said I showed promise
of being hostess one day.
I feel proud but my feet hurt.
I’m doing what they say but
how do I reach the American Dream
if I never sleep?
