Mirage

The sun falls from the sky
Shattering where it lands
Rays of broken light
Stain the barren land

Long has my mind twisted
Images of our ride
Long have I thirsted
To be by your side

I see no desolation
Nor no empty road
I see you beside me
Leaving our heavy load

The picture is so perfect
With you by my side
My heart now rejoices
For it's no longer dry

But as the broken light
Slips slowly down the horizon
I find a dry, empty land
I had mistaken for my zion
