The Mirror

Do I dare to look in the mirror?

To see the image reflected back at me?

Not expecting to see perfection,

more like a broken, empty shell.

Someone who danced with the devil

and was left broken hearted.

A chain,

locked around her heart.

Closed off,

it is her only defense.

At a young age I lost the only person I truly had a connection with, this caused me to retreat within myself. I clung to Edgar Allen Poe. It is because of him and my connection to poetry that I am here today.
