Mirror

I woke to my bedroom mirror and not to my surprise

A hideous monster in it's silver corners

I stare in horror as it stares back

It has a figure of impossibility

That Lonliness has claimed a creation of his own

What is wrong with it?

Why can't nobody on this planet see this monster

But myself?

Why is it disproportional, who could it ever belong to?

Why does it even exist?

I wake to my bedroom mirror and not to my surprise

I find a work of art, a masterpiece

I stare in empowerment as my reflection stares back

I gaze at my perfect complexion of brown

My messy yet controlled, night black hair

My face so clear, so youthful

My figure that I know others have worked and begged for

I am amazed at the gentle paintbrush strokes on myself

Eevery single detail from my red eye corners to my uneven eyelids

Because I love you

I can see what I have been blind to all my life.
