The Mirror and The Demon in Me - By Crystal Marie Thompson

I look around, and everywhere I look I come in contact with my demons.

It’s like they are forcing me to look at the mirror with every footstep I take in life.

Weighing me down, making me remember my unkindly flaws.

I’m not the only one who has felt this way.

Were every morning is a battle to wake up and face reality, with an image we define as labels.

It becomes more of a food source for our demons.

Find someone who has the lowest self-confidence label:

The demon's job is to purchase, search, and destroy its target like a harmful game of tag.

It is always the same thing, over and over again.

Wake up, fight a battle, fake the smiles and force out a laugh that can pass as overkill.

However, only “we” know the feeling.

You call us over dramatic, lost in the dark, over-thinking.

But think, try living in a world were everyday you wake up to yourself and cry at your own reflection.

To were you are destroying yourself into a magazines' label that says,"perfection is only a beautiful lie we cannot obtain".

We become so focused in on our own self destruction that the big red button is only one simple thought to cause you to fall.

A simple “I AM FAT. I AM UGLY. I AM DUMB. I WILL NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH.”

And with those tiny thoughts, we die a little more inside.

With every demon's words, the thoughts progress into the darkness; we call hell on Earth, depression, self-destruction, and suicide.

Some people take the piles of pills that looks like a mountain to try and become normal.

Others try to surgically remove or gain a beauty mark.

While there are those who slap on the beautiful lying streams of make-up.

So why bother?

So we can look like a beautiful lie and fake our way into society's labels of “perfection".

When all they truly are, are the destruction of a beautiful soul, that’s been marked by a distracting lie.

At the end of it all when you get home at night and wash it all away with soap and water, the real masterpiece has been revealed.

It’s when our demons slowly seep out of our pores, to the floor and towers over our souls like the giants of the dark.

Despite what all was read or said, I want you to know…..

YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

The demons are only your clouding thoughts that torment your mind, soul and body.

However, if you just believe and can see your beauty, those demons, and labels are nothing.

They won’t become a battle that you fight every day, but maybe once every two months or so.

You just have to believe.

So listen to me, I want you to try something new with me.

Go to a mirror or pull one out and repetitively say

"I AM BEAUTIFUL."

"I AM LOVED."

"SURE TODAY IS ANOTHER BAD DAY BUT I AM GOING TO SMILE AND SHAKE IT ALL AWAY."

"FOR I AM STUNNING, AMAZING AND ME!”
